Helen Langford

I am first and foremost a maker. The surface of substance, and the ways in which surfaces react to age and light are the core of my work. It is the weight and texture of metal that make it so captivating and the ways in which it can be moulded and imprinted allow me to pursue my fascination with layers and re-formation. I work mainly in silver and bone: materials which draw through jewellery to almost sculptural compositions. I like to distress the metal to evoke the ravages of time and nature. Through generous use of silver I create bespoke, tactile but wearable pieces.
